Description

The presentation will be about the KVM design, how it is different from other virtualization designs, how shadow pagetables are managed by KVM, how mmu notifiers can allow paging the guest physical memory, and a short overview on the paravirtualization and pci-passthrough capabilities of KVM.

About the speaker

Andrea Arcangeli joined Qumranet in 2008 because of his interest in working on the KVM virtualization product, with special interest in the virtual machine memory management. Before joining Qumranet he worked for Novell/SUSE since 1999 on many parts of the Linux Kernel, but especially on the virtual memory subsystem of the kernel. He started working with Linux in his spare time shortly after he connected the first time to the Internet back in 1996 while studying at Bologna University. He enjoys spending most of his time solving software problems, and trying to promote the adoption of Linux and Open Source software everywhere.
