Description
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://cern.ch/cseminar/CDS/style.css" /> Up to September 2005, there was no easy way to have a java web application hosted at CERN without having to run a J2EE server yourself. The situation changed with the recent introduction of a new IT service: J2EE Public Service.

We first briefly introduce java web publishing technologies such as JSP and servlets. Then we show how these technologies can be used to prepare a java web application, and how such application can be deployed and hosted within the service.

Finally, we discuss some more advanced issues such as the implementation of access restrictions using NICE authentication, jdbc connectivity to oracle databases, connection pooling and SOAP web services deployment.
