ABSTRACT
Testing software is fraught with fundamental problems and difficulties and object-oriented software, contrary to initial popular belief, has made the process even more difficult. This talk will briefly examine some of the basic problems in testing and go on to illustrate the additional problems that object-oriented programming has introduced. A number of testing approaches are examined, based on a variety of criteria (such as data flow and state), and the limitations of these approaches discussed. The talk concludes by considering some of the open problems and ways forward.
